Updating after a great experience 8 years later. This place has definitely had a remodel since then, and just looks newer all around, with digital menus and all. I took some (10+) family here to experience their first SD Mexican meal. We ordered family style, and took our seats. As the food came out, the sound of chatter from all around the table quickly turned to silence as we dug into Rolled Tacos, Carne Asada Fries, California burritos. This was obviously a whole new world to my family, and they could not have been more satisfied with our meal. The guy working at the front helped us to move the tables together so we could all sit together, and was friendly and patient all around, which was definitely appreciated.

I hadn't been to El Patron in at least a few years- don't live in the area, no longer taking kids to the nearby ice arena, etc but remembered how much I love their salsa when hungry and heading to H-Mart. I ordered the Acapulco burrito- and it was amazing! HUGE, and packed full of shrimp and very flavorful sauce. So so good- fresh and also as leftovers. Highly recommend- next time I'll be going to El Patron and stopping in at H-Mart as long as I'm close

I recently dined at this Mexican restaurant, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance is welcoming, with ample seating that ensures a comfortable dining experience without feeling cramped. The salsa bar is great, offering a variety of fresh onions and peppers that places don't always do. The menu is extensive, filled with a wide array of options that cater to every taste, and the late hours are perfect for satisfying those midnight taco cravings. The overall atmosphere, combined with the delicious food and excellent hours, makes this place a standout in town for me. In short, my taste buds were thoroughly delighted, and I will definitely be returning for more.

We came fairly late on a Tuesday, with some friends after we got out of our movie. They were familiar with the Taco Tuesday special, and wanted some cheap eats. And I was glad they suggested it! My friend and I especially liked the carnitas tacos. Mine was traditional, and hers was stripped to meat and sub cheese only, plus salsa. The fact that she enjoyed them plain is an example of how good the quality is. I liked the carne asada too, but it wasn't nearly as good. We're going to be nearby again in a few days, and you can bet I want to go get tacos again. Even if I have to donit by myself, lol.

Taco Tuesday is a great deal! I got 2 adobada & 1 carnitas. They have good flavor. My favorite thing about coming here for taco Tuesday is that they have grilled onions & grilled jalapeños on the side for customers to serve themselves. The service was okay. I think the staff working the cashier could be a little more friendly & welcoming, he seemed a bit rushed. The inside of the location has changed & it seems to be getting a touch up. The place is clean & the salsa bar has a variety of salsas. I really wanted a Jamaica with my tacos but the Jamaica was $5 which it was maybe better to get 2 extra tacos for the same price.

I recently visited El Patron in Mira Mesa for their Taco Tuesday special, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The cashier was exceptionally pleasant and efficient, ensuring our orders were accurate and promptly served, I didn't get his name unfortunately. What stood out the most was the exceptional value for the quality of food offered. At just $2.25 per taco, the affordability was remarkable, especially considering the delicious fresh ingredients. I opted for two Carnitas tacos and one Carne Asada taco, all with meat and cheese only. The Carnitas stole the show with their juicy and flavorful meat, making it my personal favorite. My friend, who ordered the same tacos with all the toppings, also thoroughly enjoyed her meal, further attesting to the consistency and excellence of El Patron's offerings. One aspect that particularly impressed me was the quality of the tortillas. They appeared to be freshly made, boasting a remarkable softness and taste that elevated the entire dining experience. In addition there was a salsa bar with a few options to choose from & let's face it, that always thrills me. The dining room was traditional for a taco shop and offered quite a decent amount of tables. Most tables were filled, I guess others like this place too. We were, however, able to get a table for four easily which was nice. Overall, El Patron's Taco Tuesday deal exceeded my expectations in terms of both quality and value. With impeccable service, delicious food, and irresistible prices, I will undoubtedly be returning for more Taco Tuesdays in the future. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic and satisfying Mexican cuisine in Mira Mesa.

I've been going here for almost two decades, and they are still going strong. I always order the Carne asada burrito and three (3) rolled tacos combination that includes a canned soda for $12.49, a 5/5 stars deal! Carne asada burrito: tender beef that is mildly flavored, but the pico de gallo, guacamole, and soft but slightly crisped flour tortilla all contribute for interesting bites, 4/5 stars. Three (3) rolled tacos: other spots nickel and dime you to add fresh veggies to your rolled tacos, but not here! The veggies, cool creamy guacamole, crispy tortilla, and shredded beef or chicken round it all up for a satisfying side or appetizer =) 3.5/5 stars. I love their salsa bar, as they have a variety of quality and flavorful salsas, including grilled white onions, jalapeños, hot carrots, and pickled red onions. Yes, they don't have a drive-thru, but that doesn't stop the masses from getting their grub on here. The service here is systematic, and I always place my order ahead via Yelp / Grub Hub for pick-up.

So delicious and flavorful! I tried the quesadilla and carne asada fries. The salsa was so refreshing and went so well with the meal! They have a large sit down area with many tables, as well as an amazing sauce bar of various spices!

Fun little restaurant on the corner of the strip Mall off Mira Mesa Blvd . Good prices and great food. Very large menu. Recommend the rolled tacos. Delicious . 4 are only about $6.50 and are covered in cheese and ripping and guacamole. It does not come With chips or rice or beans but they can add some of that by making it a combo for $3 more. Definitely a hidden gem. Parking stinks as this is a busy strip Mall in an overcrowded area.
